Melbourne: A guide on what to do after 5pm on weekdays.

FYI: This post is currently going under html format changes. Super sorry if it’s giving you any issues!

Hi Pals,

Working that 9-5 [“what a way to make a living”] can make socialising a little bit difficult when you don’t want it to revolve around drinking. Now, Melbourne sure is big on that- but it’s also big on food, arts and culture!

I’ve gone ahead and read through numerous threads, forums, books and magazines to make a Monday – Friday after work/date/socialising calendar. All you really need is your Myki. Some I’ve done, some of my friends have and others I’ve just found through their websites or word of mouth.

So, with that – Here’s a list of things to do in Melbourne after 5pm on weekdays.

Canberra is kinda cool, really.

Hiya Pals,

I recently went to the capital of Australia, Canberra for a weekend away.  The main reason I go is that I have friends who live there but I also really enjoy the city!

You might have heard that Canberra recently made #3 in a Lonely Planet for Top Cities, along with Seville, Detroit, Hamburg and Oslo. However, it’s for those cities they believe is up and coming. (Unsure about why Oslo is there? It’s probably because of a) the cost to get there B) then cost to stay there. I don’t think that’s reason enough but hey, I’m not LP.)

The reason I’m doing this post is that whilst in Canberra we got talking about lists why you should go there. I’m not going to link the list, but the last reason was that “you can pet a cheetah.” Can you do it? Yes. Should you do it? Probably not.

Anyways, these are my favourite things in Canberra to do and thus What you should do when you go to Canberra!

What you should know about Lasik Eye Surgery.

Hiya Pals,

If you’re a [former] glasses wearer like me, you’ve probably thought about Lasik Eye Surgery. Lasik (Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis but lets keep it short) is essentially a correction of your eye. It reshapes the inner cornea so that you can focus more clearly with vision. It’s been around for ages and has thousands of studies. Feel free to go check them all out, or if you’re like me just google “lasik gone wrong” – actually please don’t do that.

If you’ve been thinking about going and booking in to get your eyes done, Heres what you need to know about Lasik.

Five tips on travelling with glasses.

Hi Pals,

I recently had Lasik Eye Surgery which means II now have better than 20/20 vision. My Dad suggested doing one eye at a time because knowing “my luck” something will go wrong – thanks, Dad. I’ve researched it and the statistics are all in my favour. I think I’ll be A-Okay. I mean, if it turns out that I’ll be able to shoot lasers from my eyes how sick would that be, and just in time for the Incredibles 2!

But it got me thinking, I’ve been travelling since I was 18 with glasses and how have I managed? Well, poorly to say the least.

So here are five tips on how you can travel with glasses when you’re a bit of a donut-like me.

Fitting into Queenstown.

Hi Pals, New Zealand is the third most beautiful country in the world according to a poll down in 2017 by Rough Guilds. Now, whether or not you think this is true, there is no denying that it’s unreal.

I’m lucky that airlines like Jetstar often have cheap flights to New Zealand, and when a recent sale came up for the long weekend to Queenstown, I couldn’t say no! I reached out to a buddy of mine and said I was coming over. 3 hours on a flight? Easy. Return flight via Auckland? Not as easy.
